D3football.com, D3Cast announce webcasting partnership

Springfield-Union video webcast to kick off 2007 slate of live audio and video coverage of Division III football games this Saturday night

Sterling, VA and Marblehead, MA — D3sports.com today announced a partnership with D3Cast to deliver live audio and video webcasts of Division III football, basketball and baseball games, beginning with live video coverage of No. 9 Springfield at Union on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 6:45 p.m. ET. The game will be available from D3football.com and D3Cast.com.

D3sports.com's audio coverage, as well as selected East Region video webcasts throughout 2007, will be presented on D3Cast.

"We're extremely excited to be working with the D3sports.com family of sites," said D3Cast president Steve Clay. "Pat Coleman and his staff have worked tirelessly to become the No. 1 destination for news, scores, analysis and discussion for Division III football, basketball and baseball. D3Cast is happy to be able to help provide some multimedia coverage of some of the top small-college athletics events in the country."

D3sports.com, which encompasses D3football.com, D3hoops.com and D3baseball.com, is entering its 11th season covering Division III sports. Coleman and Keith McMillan have broadcast live audio of the past eight Stagg Bowls and video of the 2006 national semifinals in conjunction with the NCAA.

"We look at D3Cast and see a lot of ourselves in what Steve Clay has accomplished. We know both organizations share a passion for Division III athletics and believe that will translate into an even better product for our combined viewership and listenership," said Coleman.

Since 2002, Bullpen Media — home of D3Cast — has provided video production, services and consulting for college sports webcasting, including successful projects for Tufts University and Stevens Institute of Technology, as well as webcasting the 2006 and 2007 Head of the Charles Regatta and producing numerous regular-season and championship webcasts for the NCAA.

NEIBA All-Star Game

It's one of our most enjoyable webcasts of the year, and we hope you enjoy it, too, if you can't be there. It's the annual New England college baseball all-star game from Fenway Park, and we'll have live coverage of it for you on D3Cast on Sunday evening.

Please note that the start time for the broadcast is extremely flexible — the game will start approximately 60-90 minutes after the end of the Red Sox-White Sox game (a 2:05 p.m. start). So we're estimating 7 p.m., but honestly, it could start anywhere from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (or later — two years ago the preceding Sox game went 12 innings!). Keep checking the D3Cast home page for the latest updates, and enjoy the game!

THANKS

Thanks to everyone who watched our coverage of the 2007 NCAA Division III New England Baseball Regional from Harwich, MA this weekend, and congratulations to the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors, who advance to the national finals in Wisconsin.

We had a blast presenting our coverage, and we appreciate all of the wonderful feedback we received.

Just as a reminder, our webcast rights for this regional do not include rebroadcast or archival rights at this point, so these games will not be available in the D3Cast archives immediately. We are working with the NCAA on archival rights; feel free to check back at D3Cast.com or send an email to info@d3cast.com for more updates on the archival rights situation.

Again, our tremendous thanks to all our viewers, our hosts at the ECAC, the Harwich Department of Recreation, and most of all, our fantastic crew — including our friends at CTN Media — for dialing the production values up to 11 for these webcasts. Thanks again.

DuckCast to Begin Webcasting Stevens Institute of Technology Athletics Events on September 3

Don't forget to check out D3Cast's new single-game packages!

HOBOKEN, N.J. (August 25, 2006) – On Friday, the Stevens Institute of Technology Department of Athletics formally announced the formation of DuckCast (www.duckcast.com), which is an organization designed to present audio and video broadcasts of Stevens athletic events over the Internet and a web site where these broadcasts are streamed live and then kept in an archive for subsequent viewing. DuckCast is a member of the D3Cast network, which provides systems, services and training that enables Division III schools to present their own live audio and video webcasts of athletic events.

The first official webcast for the fall is set for Sunday, September 3 when the men’s soccer team hosts New Jersey City University at DeBaun Field at 7 p.m. A complete schedule for the fall webcasts is located here.

What they are saying about DuckCast:
"We are thrilled to launch DuckCast and feel that it will be an excellent way for fans to stay in touch with a number of our teams at Stevens. So many of our student-athletes are from out-of-state, and DuckCast will be a great way for families to watch their children compete throughout the year. We have every reason to believe that this project will succeed, and we will certainly look to expand it as we move forward." Russell Rogers, Director of Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation

"DuckCast is a very ambitious project that we have started at Stevens. We are taking on a very healthy load of contests during the fall season, but we are confident that we will be able to produce high-quality webcasts because of the excellent student staff that we are in the process of assembling. DuckCast will place Stevens at the forefront of Division III in terms of offering quality audio and video webcasts for college athletics. We are also quite excited to showcase our facilities and top-caliber teams." Brian Granata, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information

"Given its recognition by The Princeton Review and Forbes as one of America's 'Most Connected Campuses', the championship-level facilities and teams at the college, and the affinity for technology throughout the Institute, Stevens is a natural fit for presenting live video webcasts of athletics events. D3Cast is pleased to be working with DuckCast as it begins its inaugural season." Steve Clay, President of D3Cast

Hockey Archives (Update)

All of the games from this past weekend's coverage of the NESCAC Men's and Women's Ice Hockey Championship are in the D3Cast archives at this point, in some form or another. There are a few files that have some gaps in them (while we were frantically rebooting a computer), but we are re-encoding those for the archives, and will replace the existing file with the new, complete, better-quality files in the next week or so.

Thanks for your continued interest in the archives, and for you kind words about the weekend's coverage (and we'd still love to hear more feedback from you at sbc@d3cast.com!)

"Kenyon is one of the best small-college hockey arenas in the country, and we're anticipating presenting some terrific webcasts of some exciting games this weekend."

D3Cast to Webcast NESCAC Basketball Championships

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and D3Cast of Marblehead, MA, announced today that all three games of the semi-finals and finals of both the 2006 NESCAC Men's and Women's Basketball tournaments will be webcast on D3Cast on February 25-26, 2006. Live video and audio are planned for all webcasts.

"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to bring these two high-profile championships to an eager live audience," said D3Cast president Steve Clay. "We recognize that in the past three years, one national champion, four national Final Four teams, and eight sectional finalists have participated in these two tournaments, and we're proud to be a part of that legacy.

"In the past three years of the two NESCAC tournaments themselves," said Clay, "six games in the semis or the finals have been decided by four points or less, and we expect that our audience will be treated to some exciting games this year, as well."

The matchups are now set on both the men's side (at Amherst), and on the women's side (at Bates). See the "Coming up..." section on the front page or the D3Cast schedule for more info!
